Christmas cards: One sheet wonder

🎄 Christmas is coming! 🎄

It’s true, Christmas is coming and it’s my favorite!!! I LOVE making Christmas cards and I admit, I have never used a one sheet wonder template. They always intimidated me for some reason. And now that I have, I don’t know how I’ve survived without them!!

Check out my one sheet wonder epiphany below.

Card making

My love for paper crafting started with making cards. A good friend of mine introduced me to card making and my life has forever been changed. Giving cards to family and friends is one of my favorite things to do during the holidays.

Collecting all the tools and supplies for card making is almost as fun as making the cards. I admit, I have a lot of supplies that I bought with no plan in mind. I see a pretty stamp set, or scrapbook paper and I have trouble passing it up. Especially if it’s on sale!

When I come across a new technique I wanna try, I run to the craft store at the first chance I get. Sometimes I master it, sometimes it’s a fail. But that’s the fun of crafting! You will never run out of ideas.

One thing I recently tried is a one sheet wonder template. With a one sheet wonder template I was able to make 21 cards very quickly! Which sounds too good to be true, but I promise you, it’s amazing!  I don’t know why it has taken me so long to try a one sheet wonder template. I’ve seen them all over Pinterest and on other craft blogs I follow and have always said “one day I’ll try it”  Well that day finally arrived!

I have so much pretty 12″x12″ scrapbook paper that I was scared to cut. I know, I know, how silly to be scared to cut paper. But what if I cut it wrong and wasted a whole sheet of pretty paper?!

But this template I found on Pinterest is amazing! It’s easy and uses every bit of a 12″x12″ sheet of paper. I wish I could link back to original post but sadly this Pinterest link went no where, it was just a picture of the template. So I made my own template using it for guidance and ended up with 21 beautiful Christmas cards from 2 sheets of pretty scrapbook paper. One sheet was double-sided so I got to choose which side I wanted to use and ended up using both sides!

I wanted to keep it simple and use only a few of my favorite tools. Now y’all know I love my Cricut. But for these cards I only used my Cricut for 5 of my cut outs. Because I had a file uploaded that I thought was just perfect for these cards.

I stuck with just a few stamps, it was so hard to choose!! I have a TON of Christmas stamps. But I wanted the paper to shine on these cards so I went basic with the stamps.

Here’s my supply list:

  • Cricut Maker
  • red paper
  • a few basic Christmas stamps
  • brown paper
  • black paper
  • 2 sheets of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper
  • paper-cutter
  • circle die cuts
  • square die cuts
  • one sheet wonder template
  • adhesive
  • adhesive dimensionals
One Sheet Wonder Template
This is the template I improvised from Pinterest.

This template is amazing. I know it’s only the first one I have ever done/used, but I love it! I start by cutting the 5 1/4 wide section first with my paper cutter. Then I cut that section into two 4 inch pieces and two 2 inch pieces. Then I move onto the 4 inch section. Measure 4 inches and cut, then cut that section into 3 inch sections. You should get four 3 inch sections. Next is the the 2 1/4 inch section. I cut 3 squares (2 1/4″) and 5 1/4 inch is what is left. Now the last 1/2 inch piece I cut into 5 1/2 pieces. And that leaves me with a half inch piece that I set aside. I will find a way to use it! lol

But even if I don’t use that half inch piece, this template gives me so many options! I’ve used it to make 21 Christmas cards from 2 sheets of 12″ x 12″ scrapbook paper.
